Meet Krista
Newbie game developer
Krista is an amateur game developer documenting the process of learning game development and game design!
Why Game Dev?
I’m pretty new to gaming in general.
I played a little bit of Mario and Sega Genesis as a kid (including that ridiculously hard Lion King game), but not much.
Then in 2021, my husband bought me a Nintendo Switch. We had just moved across the country and I was having trouble adjusting to the new city.
I started playing Pokemon Go (I know … like 5 years after it was a Thing) as a way to motivate myself to walk around the new neighborhood and explore.
My husband was so excited I was getting into Pokemon, and he saw how excited I was by the game.
He bought me a Switch on a hunch that I would like more than just mobile games.
He was right.
I’m now a super fan of Kirby, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, and all the Mario games. But more than anything, I’ve been so inspired by some of the incredibly creative, short indie games I’ve picked up like Strange Botany and Spiritfarer.
I decided to learn game dev because I love making things … I love to knit, bake, and sew, among other crafts. If there’s something I love, chances are I want to know how it’s made. So I’m continuing to explore my newfound love of games by learning how they’re made. It’s that easy!
I mostly enjoy cozy games, puzzles, and the occasional platformer.
